Lakeview High School Strength & Conditioning strives to enhance the athletic development of all students. We coach to help our youth learn how to sacrifice and give respect to those around them, while building honest hard-working citizens who will have the tools to become outstanding men and women.

Our Mission: “You Belong Here” … What’s this look like?

  1. Do No Harm: Strength and Speed Training is very safe and productive and helps students learn healthy habits that can be carried on later in life. Our goal is for the weight room to be very inclusive.
  2. Improve Performance: All athletes need to be strong and fast. Athletes who aren’t, are at a major disadvantage when they reach high levels of competition.
  3. Reduce Injuries: Strength and Speed Training has shown to dramatically reduce the likelihood of being injured at practice or competition.

Our Primary Training Focus: Speed & Strength … How?

We train speed through Timed Sprints and other Sprinting, Change of Direction, and Agility Drills. We don’t overcomplicate things…If you want to get faster, then you need to sprint. Many of our Training Philosophies follow the “Feed the Cats” system made famous by Tony Holler.

We train strength by focusing our 8-16 week cycles around Cal Dietz’s “Triphasic Training” protocol. This style of training heavily focuses around training the eccentric, isometric, and concentric parts of a muscle contraction. Following these phases, we would then transition into Power and Peaking Phases. By training through this method, we can train through all sport seasons while keeping everyone on the same on a similar training plan to make workouts more efficient when teams at times need to lift together. For anyone that is In-Season, we simply reduce the amount of volume by reducing the days of training from 3-4 to 2.

What you need to do to be successful (Our 4 Pillars of Success):

  • Attitude
    • This is your controllable. Most other things are not in your control.
    • “On every team, there is a core group that sets the tone for everyone else. If this tone is positive, you have half the battle won. If it is negative, then you are beaten before you even walk on the field.” – Chuck Noll
  • Hard Work
    • Enjoy the Process and don’t just chase the end goal. “A man who enjoys walking will walk farther than the man who enjoys the destination.” – Jonathon Byrd
  • Accountability
    • It is everyone’s job to push, challenge, and support those around you. “You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with.” – Jim Rohn
  • Development
    • Getting fast and strong doesn’t happen overnight. It takes years, patience, and consistency.
    • “The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago, the second best time is now.” – Chinese Proverb.
